August 2011 PIHRA President’s Message

One of the benefits (responsibilities!) of PIHRA membership is participation in the design of the several Association-wide events we present each year. Indeed, feedback from members and participants at our 2010 conference and exposition were major elements in the design of your PIHRA® 2011 Annual Conference & Exposition in Anaheim on August 29-31.

Information informally solicited by PIHRA leaders during last year’s conference and feedback mined from surveys distributed thereafter were gathered by Vice president for Education Dennis Buster, SPHR, and served as the foundation for our 2011 conference programs and events planning. As a result, this year’s conference will offer over 17 preapproved recertification credits including over a dozen each California and Strategic Business Management-specific; an opportunity to demonstrate to bosses the value proposition for attendance at the conference and an enhanced Career Center open to all members whether registered for the conference or not.

The 2011 conference theme is California Human Resources Professionals: Making Strides for a Better Tomorrow. Sessions will focus on practical information to help you be successful on the role HR will play as California and the U.S. recover from the recent recession. In an effort to encourage those who might not otherwise be able to attend, reduced pricing is available both to those in transition and to students plus both the PIHRA Foundation and several Districts are making stipends available on a need basis.

I urge you to take a few minutes to visit www.pihraconference.org and learn about Conference opportunities. Indeed, visit the conference site often over the next few weeks for the latest conference news and updates.

See you there.
